Ilinizas is a historical volcano located south of Quito. This mega volcano got destroyed after the last eruption, creating two peaks: Ilinizas North and South. On this tour we will climb Ilinizas South, with a maximum altitude of 5248 m / 17217 ft. Climbing this altitude is very difficult so we recommend two different things. First, be acclimatized at an altitude of 3000 m, and second, climbing once around 4500 m in the same week. This hike takes about 6 hours (depending on your experience), and the weather can vary at any time so it is recommended to be well prepared.
